Black Bird drawings

A couple of weeks ago I found this black bird laying on my porch. Well, it was dead – it must have hit the window, the postman suggested…Not for ‘some reason’, I know the reason…it did take my breath away when I first saw it. Extremely gracious, still warm – in great contrast with its current condition.
I took a considerable amount of pictures of it and did a few studies. The drawings are graphite on wood, most of them 12″x12″. The wood is specially prepared after an old recipe of preparing wood for icon painting (cheese cloth, rabbit skin glue, marble powder, white pigment). It’s an amazing drawing surface.

The drawings are available in my etsy shop: http://www.ingridartstudio.etsy.com
