Ave Maria, ascending

Artwork finished in time (well, just the morning before)  to be in my current show at Eggleston Gallery. A mixed media set in barn wood, no weaving this time, although it has the jute and sticks ladder.
Before taking the artworks to the gallery I wanted to photograph the newly made pieces- too many times artworks sold and didn’t get the chance to take a decent photo of it. For this artwork, to have the ladder visible, I used the white box to elevate the barn wood block- I was hoping the white box will somehow blend in with the white background for less photo editing. They looked contrasting together but also connected: the white box has a weathered  look to it- I immediately thought of integrating the box and make it more than just a stand, so the Ave Maria prayer written on it was a graceful  solution.  I was wondering in the end how I even made this piece without considering to have the prayer along…
